Dyson's transformation is applied to the antiferromagnetic Heisenberg model with uniaxial anisotropy energy. The ground state is obtained so as to minimize the energy, and the spin wave spectrum and susceptibilities parallel and perpendicular to the easy axis are calculated. The results are compared with those obtained by the conventional method, in which only the second order terms of the Hamiltonian are diagonalized. The differences between these two results are shown to be nontrivial for some quantities.
