The present state of algal collections built in the two Philippine algal herbaria, the Philippine National Herbarium, National Museum, Manila (PNH) and the Marine Science Institute, University of the Philippines, are reported. Both herbaria, which store more than 15,000 specimens of Philippine algae (including the blue-green algae, the green algae, the brown algae, the red algae), are very useful to researchers of tropical marine biology. We also introduce the manner of making and keeping dried specimens peculiar to the algal herbaria in the tropical country.
