A total of 801 species of reef and shore fishes (occurring inshore at depths less than 200m) of 97 families are recorded from the Ogasawara (Bonin) Islands; 150 of these are indicated by asterisk as new records. The new records are documented by specimens (listed by museum number and length). color photographs, or in a few cases as sight records. Corrections are given for some scientific names from earlier literature. A discussion of the zoogeography of the inshore fish fauna is provided.
