Even if PC beginner users and aged people are recognizing a whole of GUI image, it is too difficult to identify its details. The size of the character and the figure should be enlarged in order to support an area of gaze on the pointing device. We are considering the way of displaying the gaze region on the pointing device that can be operated while emphasizing the gaze region. This paper presents a basic configuration and implementation of a hemispherical display device, which provides a partially enlarged GUI display to an operating surface, having a built-in pointing device. As for a system prototyping, the hemispherical display device is implemented through a hemispherical rear projection screen combining an optical lens and a small LCD without using a projection projector. We investigated the visibility of users through evaluating a geometrical optics shape of the device and analyzing a computer simulation for the device.
