Application of low solidity circular cascade difluser was tried in a low capacity centrifugal pump to investigate the possibility in hydrodynamic machine. The impeller exit width is 19% of impeller outer radius, type number x was 0.49, and vaneless diffiiser outer to inner radius ratio was 1.2. When the low solidity circular cascade diffuser was equipped, the head rise increased 10-15% in low flow rate rigion. By the theoretical head rise and and flow visualization on the diffuser wall by oil flow method, the mechanism of head rise was investigated. In the low flow rate region, the effect of flow improvement in the diffuser was large. In the high flow rate region, the back flow on the diffuser wall was suppressed, however, contribution to the head rise was not clear.
