This article, the third in a series, updates information on the development and growth of the Nagoya University of Commerce and Business (NUCB) Self-Access Center (SAC). In it we look at the current layout of the center, the range of materials and hardware that is now available, and the links that have been made with the various courses run by the Faculty of Foreign Languages. In the SAC we have also been concerned with monitoring student attitudes and motivation. We therefore give some of the results of a series of attitude questionnaires administered to students over the past three years. Through these, students expressed a definite need for help in planning their independent study. Details are also given of the seminars/workshops that were introduced as a direct result of these findings. The evolution of the NUCB SAC should be of interest to anyone concerned with self-access learning and in particular to those who are working with Japanese students both within Japan and when they study abroad.
