Identity of Rivellia fusca (THOMSON) from the Philippines is established and a lectotype is designated for it. A new species, Rivellia yaeyamaensis, closely related to R. fusca, is described from the Ryukyus, Japan. A diagnosis of Rivellia based on the abdominal structure is presented. The male and female abdomens of Rivellia syngenesiae (FABRICIUS), the type species of the genus, are figured for the first time.
