Flight Activity of Insects Sampled with a Truck Trap : I. Flight Activity of Staphylinidae (Coleoptera)

The flight activity of staphylinid species was studied using a truck trap, in the northern part of Tochigi Prefecture in Japan. Total 7, 508 individuals belonging to more than one hundred species were collected. The most abundant was Atheta. There were two peaks in the transition of the number of collected individuals. The first peak was in June and the second one (considerably lower) was in October. 87.7% of the individuals were collected in sunset samplings.
