The structure of a vertical Bloch line has been studied by using a three-dimensional computer simulation to clarify the static and dynamic behaviors in Bloch line memory. The Bloch line shows a 2π radian rotation of wall magnetization along the wall on one side of the surface, and disappears at the other surface. The width is nearly uniform in spite of the nonuniformity of the rotation angle. Bloch line propagation under potential wells was simulated for a bias pulsed field. The potential wells were generated by a patterned high coercive-force film located on the garnet surface. It was found that the Bloch line pairs propagated smoothly under such a nonuniform potential well without showing any serious distortion.
