Single crystal MnBi platelets were prepared on a glass substrate by evaporating a Bi layer prior to a Mn layer under a pressure of 10^<-7> Torr, followed by annealing for 6 hours at about 27O℃. The basal plane of these platelets had the common feature of hexagonal shape. The platelets were analysed by X-ray microanalyser and were confirmed to have the stoichiometric composition of MnBi compound. The magnetic properties which were different from those of the polycrystalline films were studied with the aid of the optical polar Kerr effect. The hysteresis loop had the reentrant characteristics and the coercive force was very small.
