Energy-loss cross sections, differential in energy and angle, have been measured for 300, 400, and 500 eV electrons incident on N_2 at scattering angles from 3° to 110° with energy losses from 30 to 250 eV. This region of the ionized continuum was studied with an energy resolution of about 4% and an angular resolution of about 0.5°. The cross sections have been normalized using the absolute elastic scattering data of Bromberg. Apparent generalized oscillator strengths are calculated from the cross sections. Total ionization cross section that is obtained by integration of the energy-loss cross sections over angle and energy loss is 7.17a^2_0 at 300 eV, 6.23a^2_0 at 400 eV, and 5.73a^2_0 at 500 eV.
