The magnetic superresolution (MSR) method improves readout resolution of magnetooptical (MO) signals, with a mask that the readout layer creates. The MSR method is advantageous for high-density recording. However, the recording sensitivity and overwrite function of MO media must be improved in order to render it suitable for general use. To meet these requirements, we investigated the MSR method using static coupling force and its future extension.
