This paper reports the results of pot experiments conducted to study the effect of the environmental conditions on the growth of Pinellia ternata Breit. 1. The small corms in weight showed higher rate of growth than the large. But the numbers of bulblets were more in the large corms than in the small. 2. When the corms were plantecl 2~10cm in the depth, the growth of corms were affectecl by the depth of planting; the corms in 2cm in the depth plots grew larger than in 10cm in the depth, but the arial tubers in 10cm in the depth plots were greater in number than in 2cm in the depth. 3. The soil water influenced the growth of corms; the rate of growth was reduced to some 50 % In pF value 1.2~1.4 and the number of the arial tubers was 18 % of that in the pF value 2.1~2.5 plots. 4. Shading that reduced to about 20 % of full sunlight depressed the growth of corms; the weight of corms became to some 32 % of that in full sunlight. 5. When the plant was grown together with Perilla. Glyclne and Ophiopogon plats, the growth of corms were depressed as they grew. In case of Perilla plants plots, weight of the corms reduced to 39 % of the check.
