A Simple Measurement of the Properties of Superconducting Nb_3Ge Films

In superconducting phase transition, sputtered Nb_3Ge thin films equipped with a small-sized, closed-cycle, helium-gas refrigerator have been observed. By the use of a specially devised sample holder, Nb_3Ge thin films on a sapphire substrate have been capable of being cooled as low as 11 K, and the electric resistance of high-T_c superconducting thin films can be measured without liquid helium in quite a simple, easy way. The development of this measuring technique will be very useful to small-scale laboratories which do not have a supply system of liquid helium.
