A charge neutralized intense pulsed ion beam (〜40 A/ cm^2, ≳50 keV) was injected axially into the strong magnetic field (up to 1.8 T) and this long pulse ( ≳400 ns) proton beam was guided and compressed (2r=6.0 cm to 2r=2.0 cm) efficiently by the magnetic field. Maximum ion current density at the beam center reached to 250 A/cm^2 (ion density;n_i≃5×10^<12>/cm^3). The ion current density and diamagnetic signal of the beam increased with increasing the magnetic field.
