Linearly polarized operation is demonstrated for PANDA-type Nd-doped fiber lasers. Using the stress-induced bending-loss difference between two orthogonal modes in the PANDA fiber, we achieve extinction ratio of more than 31 dB and a slope efficiency of 32%.
