Transmission Loss Characteristics of Nd-Doped Silica Single-Mode Fibers Fabricated by the VAD Method

This letter presents transmission loss characteristics of Nd-doped silica single-mode fibers. By performing a spectral deconvolution, it is clarified that the intrinsic origin of a transmission loss in the low-loss region for the Nd-doped fibers is the Rayleigh scattering loss.
