In a ZnS:Cu,Br dispersive electroluminescent device, we have observed a new behavior of a light waveform in the time domain, that is, the trailing edge emission splits into two peaks when the applied voltage falls at a certain rate. This suggests that the usual donor-acceptor (DA) pair relaxation process requires some modification according to the electric field. Based on experimental results, we propose a new relaxation process to explain the behavior of the light waveform. In the new relaxation process, the preferable combination of a DA pair under a high electric field changes spatially from that under a low electric field. The splitting phenomenon is peculiar to DA pair emissions such as ZnS:Cu,Br.
