Bi_2Sr_2Ca_1(Cu_<1-x>-Li_x)_2O_y superconductors were prepared by the arc melting method and were studied in relation to the Li-doping effect on the superconductivity. The partial substitution of Li for Cu is effective in lowering the formation temperature of the 2212-phase. A rise in the critical temperature from 81 K to 90 K was realized with the addition of Li. However, Li doping in excess causes deterioration in the superconductive quality due to the formation and growth of Li-Sr compounds. The optimum Li substitution ratio is from 10% to 20% for Cu, and the relevant annealing temperature is around 770℃.
