We studied the effect of blending binder polymers on the recording sensitivity of dye/polymer optical write once media. We found that the change in the surface entropy due to mixing is responsible for the change in the recording sensitivity after mixing. It is also indicated that for polymer pairs having complete miscibility or the lower critical solution temperature, the recording sensitivity becomes lower; for polymer pairs having complete immiscibility or the upper critical solution temperature, the recording sensitivity becomes higher compared to the value obtained by assuming that the recording sensitivity is linear to the weight ratio of blended polymers.
