Nonradiative areas were observed when electroluminescent (EL) devices with SrS:CeCl_3 phosphor prepared by multisource deposition (MSD) using H_2S gas were driven for an extended period in air atmosphere. These areas were confirmed to result from peeling off of the second insulating layer by measurement with Auger electron spectroscopy (AES) and optical microscopic observations. Infiltrated water in atmosphere into layers along hill-ocks might cause this peeling off.
