Polarization of Stimulated Emission due to the Magnetoelectric-Photo Effect of InSb at the Quantum Limit

Polarization characteristics have been examined for the stimulated Landau emission from a bulk InSb at 80 K in a quantizing magnetic field of H=6 T in the Voigt configuration, in which excess electrons and holes are excited by passing a current J perpendicular to H through the J×H force excitation. The results indicate that the extraordinary mode(E_<rf>⊥H) of the emission, which obeys the selection rule ΔM=±1 on the magnetic quantum number M, is the favorable one to undergo selective amplification in the sample at the quantum limit.
