This paper investigates experimentally the surface roughness dependence of the spatial structure of the dichromatic speckle pattern by using the autocorrelation function of the time-varying speckle intensity fluctuation. It is found that the correlation areas of the speckle field (i.e. average speckle shapes) occupying three different structural regions vary depending on the surface roughness of the diffuse object. The experimental results are compared with the theoretical ones and are found to be in fairly good agreement.
