The half-wave plate has been used to control the intensity of linearly polarized light in experiments. However this plate can be applied only to monochromatic light, because of the dependence of the action of the half-wave plate on wavelength. A new composite half-wave plate can be designed for the entire visible light region using two phase plates. Satisfied condition of the composite half-wave plate using two phase plates is obtained on the Poincare sphere.
