Investigations have been conducted on the ferroelectric ceramics of solid-solution BaPb[(Li_<1/4>Nb_<3/4>)Ti]O_3, which can be alternately represented as a binary system of Ba(Li_<1/4>Nb_<3/4>)O_3-PbTiO_3. First, sinterability was examined with appropriate control of the firing temperature for various compositions. As a result, highly dense ceramics were obtained. Next, for these ceramic specimens, various measurements such as of lattice constants, dielectric constants, remanent polarization and electromechanical coupling coefficients were carried out as a function of composition as well as of temperature. Finally, dielectric and piezoelectric characteristics were evaluated.
