A study of the consistency of decomposed granite soils was made by a new method based on the slump test. It is shown that the degree of weathering and mineral composition which play a significant role in the classification of the decomposed granite soils can be well represented by the consistency according to this method, and that the consistency is closely related to engineering properties such as compaction and permeability.
