Some observatious of current oscillations in a photoconductive CdS crystal are reported. The crystal was divided into two regions of different resistivity by nonuniform illumination. Current-voltage characteristics, potential distributions and the dependence of current amplitude on the resistivities and lengths of the two regions were investigated. Before the current oscillation, there is a voltage range where a stable current which surpasses saturations current in high resistivity region flows through the sample or the high resistivity region itself. Under the above mentioned voltage range, the current neither obeys Ohm's law nor saturates. After the oscillation occurs, the minima of the oscillating current just coincide with the saturation current in the high resistivity region. The mechanism of this type of oscillations is qualitatively discussed on the basis of this non-saturation effect.
