Magnetic field distributions in an electromagnet were measured using an NMR gauss meter before and after changing the degree of inclination of a pole face with respect to the other from the initial state where they were parallel. The inhomogeneity produced by the deviation from pole parallelism was not dependent on the gap field strength and expressed as (B -B_0)/B_0=-c(d -d_0)/d, where B_0 and d_0 are the magnetic field strength and gap half length on the central axis of the poles, and B and d are those on the position r cm from the central axis, respectively. In this equation, coefficient c is experimentally determined to be 3/4〜2/3.
