A device is constructed to display successive 8 time-resolved profiles of a spectral line from a pulsed plasma on the screen of an usual oscilloscope. It takes 2μs to display one profile and the time-interval between two successive profiles is chosen to be 10, 15, 20 or 30 μs. The wavelength band-width of each picture on the screen is chosen to be 15, 10 or 6.3Å. The device is composed of a grating monochromater, a set of 3 light guides of 16 channels and an electronic signal processor. The signals corresponding to the 16 wavelength components are sampled and mixed in the processor so that the resultant signal is fed to the vertical input terminal of the oscilloscope. Simultaneously, the horizontal sweep and the brightness modulation waveforms are produced by the processor and applied to the corresponding terminals.
