In relation to the design of an orifice for fine particles or of a hopper, it is important to study the fluidization of fine particles. In this work, it was investigated experimentally how fine particles move in a vessel in the case of flowing out from a slit. In the most open-packed state, the fluidizing area determined by the boundary curves of fluidization increases with increase in roughness of fine particles and with decrease in the slit width. After the initial acceleration, the vartical displacement of particles on the central line from initial position during fluidization is linear with time. The effect of the bottom width of the vessel on boundary curves of fluidization is studied under various degrees of packing. The drained angle increases with increase in grain size, irrespective of the slit width.
