Granules in a rotating cylinder around the horizontal axis show various characteristic flow phenomena depending upon the size of the cylinder, amount of granule, rotation speed and other parameters. In this study, the flow phenomena were investigated by means of photographic analysis as a function of rotation speed of a cylinder. The total cross-sectional area of granules and the various values relating to the surface profile at the steady state in each rotation speed were measured. In particular, the relationship between the rotation angle and the areas of granules was studied at a constant rotation speed.
