The theory developed in the previous report^<1)> on the coupled vibration of hull and bottom has been extended to include the hydrodynamical effect of surrounding water. It is shown that the hydrodynamical force acts, not only as the added mass, but also as the coupling force. The coefficients of the hydrodynamical inertia force (including the coefficients of added virtual mass) have been obtained for the rectangular and Lewis Form sections, based on the two-dimensioanl flow theory. The theory, compared with the model experiments, has been proved to explain the phenomenon quite well both in air and on water, though the further study is necessary on the three-dimensional correction factor for the hydrodynamical inertia.
