Work time is governed by the law of probability. In the simplest, and the most fundamental case, the following equation holds.[numerical formula]f(t)dt=the probability that a work ends between t and t+dt, when the work is commenced at t=0.a=effective work time, e. g. actual transportation time at a scheduled speed on a definite distance.1/λ=mean value of delay (or variable work time), e. g. time for abjustment at a definite position.From this hypothesis, by the analytical study, the mean work time including "Wait Process" is reduced as shown by the equation (5).The establishment of "temporary storage" decreases the wait between the two adjoining works. The effect of the capacity of storage is also studied. The calculated results of theoretical and approximate formulae are shown in Fig. 8,together with the results of experiments using the table of random numbers.
