The longitudinal motion of the submerged body has been presented by the linearized equations on the basis of the small oscillation theory as well as airplane. For airplanes, many flight tests have been carried out and compared with theoretical values. But for the submerged body, such a test is not so easy, so we had tried to get the relations between the theory and the actual ship motions, by means of the scaled-model which is able to run under water freely by the electric motor, diving gears and flood and blow systems, having the recorder to record its own motions. This experiments were carried out successfully in 1957.This report is consisted of the theoretical approach, the above test data, the comparative analysis between theoretical values and test data, and a suggestion on the law of comparison of longitudinal maneuverability relating to model and ship.
