The electric power system, toroidal and poloidal field coil power supplies, and additional heating power supply of an electric power plant in tokamak fusion experiments are briefly described from the viewpoint of power plant design. The toroidal field coil power supply requires res a massive amount of electric energy but must be designed to work under restricted conditions of frequency, voltage and harmonics. Mentionably the hybrid system consisting of a commercial power line and a motor generator, and the multiphase converter system are adapted to satisfy the restricted conditions. In the poloidal field coil power supply an innovative electric circuit, including dc circuit breakers, a thyristor converter and a direct digital control system, is used to realize high speed response and precise plasma control. This chapter introduces the concept of the design of an electric power plant containing line surge and noise in tokamak fusion experiments.
