An electromyographic study was made on the effect of TEEP on the nociceptive response (flexion response) and the M-wave in intact as well as spinal rabbits. 1. No changes were recognized in the amplitude and frequency of the nociceptive discharge in spinal rabbits following administration of 120 μg/kg TEEP, while they increased by doses 250 μg/kg TEEP and by more, and they dropped after an abrupt increas. The increased of the nociceptive response in spinal rabbits by TEEP may be due to the increased excitation by over-accumulated acetylcholine in the synapses on the spinal level. 2. In intact rabbits, nociceptive discharges diminished immediately after the injection of TEEP of 120 μg/kg, and recoverd in about 30 min. By 250 μg/kg TEEP nociceptive discharges showed a more remarked fall, but there were a few exceptions. It is considered that the higher never centers, especially reticural formation may be excited by the administration of TEEP and this excitation may effect synapses on the spinal level. 3. The M-wave dropped by TEEP. It may be Wedensky inhibition owing to the overaccumulation of acetylcholine in nerve-muscle junctions. 4. The change of discharges following the administration of TEEP were recoverd in intact as well as spinal rabbits after 60mg/kg PAM administration, though not complete in the former. The dropped M-wave after the administration of TEEP were often recoverd by the administration of PAM.
