The pelagic snail Clione limacina (Phipps) was found to have chromosome number 2n=30 in its somatic cells and n=15 (15 bivalents) in its primary spermatocytes. The karyotype shown by the somatic chromosome complement consisted of 14 metacentrics, ten submetacentrics, and six subtelocentrics, with arm number 60. The mean values of the DNA contents in the somatic cells of three specimens of C. limacina were 17.5, 17.8, and 19.8 pg, respectively. The DNA contents of six species of gastropods, Turbo petholatus, Clithon retropicus, Littorina brevicula. L. squalida. Semisulcospria libertina, and Physa acuta were measured to compare with those of C. limacina.
