An acetylcholine-like substance extracted from etiolated of Vigna sesquipedalis was purified by sephadex G-15 column chromatography, paper chromatography and a newly devised spot test. It was identified as acetylcholine by field desorption mass spectrometry. Vigna acetylcholine also could be separated by the use of a liquid cation exchanger, sodium tetraphenylboron in n-butyronitrile.
