GA_3 stimulated incorporation of radioactive methionine into an acid phosphatase isozyme possessing an isoelectric pH at 4.0 (pI 4 isozyme). This effect of GA_3 was completely inhibited by cycloheximide, but not by cordycepin. The results suggest the existence of preformed mRNA coding for pI 4 isozyme in the wheat aleurone layer and the stimulation of its translation by GA_3.
