Gibberellic Acid-induced Increase in Activity of a Particular Isozyme of Acid Phosphatase in Wheat Half-seeds

Embryoless half-seeds of Triticum aestivum L. contain at least nine acid phosphatase isozymes of isoelectric pH ranging from 4.0 to 7.2. Treatment with GA_3 resulted in activation of a particular isozyme of pI 4.0. Three major isozymes (pI 4.0, 4.9 and 6.2) differed in their relative specificities. A similar increase of the pI 4 isozyme was also observed in the endosperm of germinating wheat seeds.
