Nitrite reductase in the excised etiolated leaves of maize showed the photoreversibility by red and far-red light. Five minutes of red light illumination lead to a 130% increase in the enzyme activity which was reversed by far-red light. The kinetics of nitritc reductase activity under continuous far-red light showed a lag phase of 1 hr.
