The sexual agglutinability of inducible a cells was induced by absorbed α pheromone in the absence of external α pheromone. The absorption needed no metabolic activity, but the induction did. This induction of sexual agglutinability by absorbed α pheromone was not accompanied or preceded by Gl arrest. The role of the binding substance for α pheromone in this induction is discussed.
