A single sunflower leaf was fed ^<14>C-glucose for one min. After various periods, two sections of the plant stem above and below the fed leaf were cut into several sections and examined for radioactivity. Sucrose phophate was identified in the extracts after neutron irradiation of the chromatograms. A correlation was noted between the proportion of sucrose phosphate in the fed leaf and the rate of translocation from it.
