DCCD, an inhibitor of membrane-bound ATPases, markedly inhibited both the endogenous and IAA-induced growth of cucumber hypocotyl sections. The inhibition was negated by the simultaneous application of ADP, ATP and 3',5'-cyclic AMP. The effect of these nucleotides was similar to that of GA_3. Adenine, adenosine, AMP, 2',3'-cyclic AMP, CTP, GTP, ITP and UTP were all ineffective.
