Ascorbic acid oxidase activities in Hedera helix L. are relatively unaffected by senescence but increased with maturation. Auxin content, however, is increased by senescence but decreased with maturation. The effects of these same stresses on phenolase activity is the reverse, indicating an inverse relationship between auxin content and phenolase activity.
