本論文では, 1枚の陰影画像からの多面体の形状復元の唯一性を議論し, 凹の多面体に対して, 相互反射を手掛かりとして利用することによって, その形状を唯一に決めるアプローチを提案する.1枚の陰影画像による多面体の形状復元においては, 角錐のような多面体の形状の解は, 一般的に唯一でないことを明らかにした.しかし, 相互反射の存在する凹の多面体の場合, 相互反射を.形状を決める手掛かりとして積極的に利用すれば, 多面体の形状が唯一に決められる.従来厄介ものとして扱われてきた相互反射は, 本論文では, 形状を決める拘束条件として利用される.
