The paper presents a program system that can extract three-dimensional object structures from two-dimensional line drawings. Inputs to the system are diagrams composed of line segments on a plane. These diagrams are assumed to be rough sketches of polyhedral objects; they need not be precise. The system gives as outputs qualitative structures of the objects, that is, topological relations among vertices, edges and faces. The system is flexible in the sense that it can extract object structures even if input drawings are mathematically incorrect due to vertex-position errors. System behavior and time efficiency are also reported for various input data.
