Infrared spectra of methyl, ethyl, and isopropyl glycosides in carbon tetrachloride solution were measured precisely in CH stretching vibrational region and were assigned tentatively by comparing with the spectra of related compounds. The β-anomer characteristic band, due to axial-C_1H bond stretching vibration, was observed in the region of 2875 to 2865 cm^<-1>, approximately in the same region as sugar acetates. Since the materials studied are regarded as model compounds for polysaccharides, it is reasonably assumed that the β-characteristic band must be useful for the elucidation of the anomeric structure of saccharides.
