The family Heterostomidae, which was erected by NAGATOMI (1984), includes only 1 genus and species, that is, Heterostomus curvipalpis from Chile. This species is here redescribed and illustrated. The errata are given to NAGATOMI (1984) on the male genitalia of the lower Brachycera. A discussion is done about the homologies of several structures along or behind aedeagus in the lower Brachycera. It is interpreated that (1) the aedeagal tines, "half-opened umbrella", mid plate, and "trumpet" are homologous with one another, and (2) ventral plate and interbases are so with each other.
