Three new species of scutacarid mites belonging to the genus Archidispus are described from Japan under the names of A. pseudomega, A. fukudai and A. yanoi. They are associated with ground beetles of the subtribe Stenolophina, tribe Harpalini, and are distinguished from the known congeners mainly by the shape and position of certain modified setae on the coxisternal plates as well as the conformation of apodeme II and secondary transverse apodeme. Further, A. fukudai is characterized by the shape of the first hysterosomal tergite. The female mites are found attached to the intersegmental membrane between head and prothorax or that between pro-and mesothorax of host insects. Nothing is known of the male and immature stages.
